If our VISA fraud monitoring department, Falcon, deems it necessary, they will contact you by phone and will identify themselves as the security department of Y-12 Federal Credit Union. If they are unable to contact you, the account will be frozen and you will need to contact the fraud team or Y-12 Federal Credit Union Payment Solutions.
Our card provider, PSCU, will identify themselves as the fraud detection center. They will never ask for your card number, expiration date or CVC (security) code.
They will verify the cardholder’s 5-digit mailing zip code, ask for confirmation if the charges are valid, verify transactions that have been attempted on the cardholder’s ATM or debit card.
If you are uncomfortable with the calls from either of our fraud detection providers, please hang up and call the number on the back of your card.
Under Federal Regulation E, you may recover internet banking losses according to how soon you identify and report them to the Credit Union. If you report the losses within two days of receiving your statement, you may be liable for the first $50; after two days, the amount increases to $500 and after 60 days you could be legally liable for the full amount. However, VISA Zero Liability takes precedence over Regulation E for unauthorized VISA transactions. VISA Zero Liability means that upon notification from the cardholder of unauthorized VISA transactions, the issuer must limit the cardholder’s liability to zero. This requirement is not applicable for ATM cash disbursements, VISA corporate card, or VISA purchasing card transactions. In these cases, Regulation E will be followed.
Provisional credit must be credited back to the cardholder’s account within 10 business days of such notification.
The issuer may withhold provisional credit if the issuer determines that specific investigations are required, if the prior account history is unsatisfactory, or if the nature of transactions justifies the delay in crediting the cardholder’s account. The amount of the cardholder’s liability for unauthorized VISA transactions may be increased if the issuer determines that the cardholder was negligent or fraudulent in the handling of the account or the card.

With respect to online banking and electronic fund transfers, the Federal government has put in place rights and responsibilities for you and Y-12 Federal Credit Union. These rights and responsibilities are described in your Account Agreement.
